Starlight

I'll Never let you go.
If promise not to fade away
Never Fade away

As most of these blogs go as long as you listen this song speaks for itself. This song is about chasing. Chasing something you want, something you need. And all to often once someone finally gets what they want, they lose it. They let it slip through their hands, never to find it again. It's like starlight, it's there, and it's gone.

It's a sad thing with are generation. Were so narcissistic and self-centered we lose so much. Were so wrapped up in ourselves that we lose all that we gain. The classic story is the boy who gets the girl, or vice versa, and they lose them. And their heartbroken, sob story, sad face, all that crap. I don't care about the sob story I'm talking about how people treat everything as dispossable these days.

Pets, other people, even senamental possessions to other people are dissposable as long as we can get a profit off of it. This is where the starlight kicks in. People and opporunities are here for only a shor amount of time. And if we are too self-centered and narcissistic to realize these gifts that are presented to us to dissapear. They'll be gone and the only person to blame is yourself. People just need to open their eyes and look away from themselves for 5 min to see this.

So my question today is, Are you going to let them fade away still? or are you going to do something to keep them within your grasp?

Invincible

And during the struggle they will pull us down
but please, please let's use this chance to turn things around
and tonight we can truly say together we're invincible
This meaning is quite straight forward, you get through anything with someone or something beside you. As with Hysteria and Supermassive Black hole, people grab onto things, including other people, and when you have someone you trust next to you, you can get through almost anything.
This is just one more reason people should go out and find that something or someone that truly makes them happy. As people we have breaking points. Things can push us past the edge and we can't get back by ourselves. But when we have someone next to us, someone we trust, we can get back. Life is never easy, but it's a whole lot easier when you have help.
People complain about how the stress in life gets them down. Thing is, their letting the stress bog down their life. Their not sharing their problems, their not talking to us. We can't just keep to ourselves for the rest of our lives. We may only be teenagers but we have friends, so talk to them let them know what's happening in your life.
With someone by your side life is easier, the stress is less, and we are just happier people period. So go out there, find your best friend, and let them into the confines of your mind, of your life. Watch at how much you'll enjoy it.

Butterflies and Hurricanes

Best, you've got to be the best,
you've got to change the world,
and use this chance to be heard,
your time is now
Regrets. What do you regret? What did you not do? What chance did you give up? Did you lose a good friend? Did you miss a chance? Regrets build up on people. We remember everything bad that's happened to us and complain about it. We regret a lot of things. It's just human nature. The trick to regrets is to not let them happen.
Everyone wants to do things. Go on trips. Meet new people. Make the most of life. It's a given we'll miss out on things but when you look back do you remember ever saying "Eh I'm not so sure i feel like going with these people, doing this thing," you get the point. We refrain from doing something new and fun because were afraid to be outside our own little box, and we regret it later.
In the terms of stated above, "Your time is now", and it is. Your time is every time an opportunity is placed before you. People need to get outside of their box, change themselves a little, and then we won't miss great opportunities. It's like that movie "Yes Man". Jim Carey's character says yes to everything, now I don't want people to be that extreme but the theory is good, say yes to a few opportunities and your life can become so grand and eventful and you won't look back and say "wow, I wish I'd done that".
Remember, your time is now, now is the time to grab life and make the most of it, life is short and there's no room for regrets.

Supermassive Black Hole

I thought I was a fool for no-one,
oh baby I'm a fool for you,
you're the queen of the superficial
And how long before you tell the truth
This lesson goes the same way as Hysteria. It deals with "addictions" but unlike hysteria this one is about things that pull you in. This isn't something you crave because you want to these are things that pull you in like a black hole.
The best example i could use is drugs. People in America use drugs everyday, I don't why, because they want to i guess. It's the typical example though, they tried them, they got hooked, and now they can't stop. That's what this song addresses a true addiction.
It is truly ridiculous how much people abuse things. People just don't understand how lucky we really are to have what we do. Doesn't have to be drugs we abuse or rights every day. And after we do it to much we end up stuck, sucked in by our own lack of self-control. These addictions or "black holes" are plain as day we just lack the self-control to avoid them. Were to damn curious and stupid to see how dangerous some of these "black holes" are, and in the end we could end up ruining our lives.
So as i leave i say this, show a little self-control, let's not all be idiotic "curious cats" for once in our lives.

Hysteria

'cause I want it now,
I want it now,
give me your heart and your soul,
I'm not breaking down,
I'm breaking out,
last chance to lose control
If you don't get it I'll explain it. Some things mean the world to people. It could be a sport. It could be a simple hobby. A pet. In this song, it's a person. Thing is when someone loves and wants something like this it's very hard for them to be away from it. To be removed from something that important it tough to deal with.
If you listen to this song you'll see it talks about wanting a person. Wanting them bad. More than anything. But it still rings true for everything in life. The things that you could call your "addictions". These "addictions" are so important to who we becomes as people that you can't let them get away. If you did you'd lose a part of who you are.
I feel sorry for those people that have these "addictions" pulled away from them, it's a terrible thing. But for those that let don't notice it and let it slip away, I have no pity. People need to recognize how lucky they are and appreciate what they have, or else they'll lose it. It's the classic cliche, you don't know what you have until you lose it.
So how 'bout we look at what we have and appreciate it. Wouldn't that be a nice change, instead of complain about what we don't have, appreciate what we do. And once we realize how good these "addictions" are let's not them go. Let's hold on for as long as life will let us. People complain about how no one is committed to anything anymore, so become committed, find your real life "addiction" and hold on too it.
So my question to you is: What is your addiction and how are you going to keep a hold onto it?

Knights of Cydonia

No one's going to take me alive
Time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
All that needs to be said is here. We live in America. The strongest, most free country on the planet. We have rights and privileges that almost all other people on the planet will never see. We're allowed to say what we want, we're allowed to vote for who we want, we're allowed to believe whatever we want too. We have the right to disagree.
We have life so easy. And frankly, we don't deserve it. We complain about things that we shouldn't, we don't deserve the easy, easy life were given. Sure some of us have hard lives, I don't know how bad it gets for some people, at least were not eating dirt. Point of this is we have it easy, we have rights and as put by muse, we have to fight for these rights, so don't abuse these rights.
Now people join the military for this reason, I'm not saying we should all take up arms for this, but at least do something to improve this country. Do some community service, give back to this country. Yes it's not perfect, look at the mess were in right now, but that's OK, life isn't perfect. Stand up against corrupt politicians, something that improves this country. Do anything you can to make this a better place then it started.
The lesson I'm trying to convey here is, this country is great, you have a obligation to make what you have last for generations, and if you don't understand this, you don't deserve it. So don't try to "beat the system" make the system better.

Lessons of Muse

I'm a self-proclaimed Muse addict. I have a playlist that's only Muse. They're just that good. But as a sit here and listen to them I know this. Why most bands have people write music for them Muse doesn't. Matthew Bellamy, their lead Singer and guitarist, writes their music. It's poetry. It's absolutely amazing. This ties in with my blog because as I look back all my blogs are about lessons. Things we can learn from and things we can change. It's all about lessons. So here are 16 muse songs and my interpretation of their amazing lyrics. You can look them up and disagree if you want too but my next 16 blogs will reflect on why I think these songs mean the things they do.
1. Knights of Cydonia- We all have a right to live and a right to be free, but if your not willing to fight for them you don't deserve them.
2.Hysteria- Some things are so good, and so worth it that without them you can't survive, so go out and grab them and never let go.
3.Super Massive Blackhole- Some things are blackholes, they draw you in whether or not you want it too, and hopefully we'll get out of the pull.
4.Butterflies and Hurricanes- When your time comes don't ignore it, take it make the most of all your opportunities.
5.Invincible- When your with someone who truly means the world to you, you can get through anything.
6.Starlight- Precious things are like starlight- they appear only rarely, and can fade away just as fast.
7.Time is Running Out- Life is short and always getting shorter, so no ones going to stop me from living it.
8.Newborn- anger is like a baby in the womb, if you don't stop it it's only going to grow.
9.Unintended- When things get hard, the most unintended people can hold you up.
10.Take a Bow- The Things you do in life will come back to get you.
11.Muscle Museum- When you miss something good and try to get it back, you usually make things worse.
12.Endlessly- You have to tell people how much they mean to you or they'll never know.
13.Blackout- Life is short, so don't waste it while your young.
14.Showbiz- If you never show how you feel eventually your going to go insane.
15.Sober- Sometimes you just need a rock to stand on when time get tough.
16.Uno- You could be great at something, but you have to get a chance first, so go create one.

Mock Trial

Yes I'm writing a blog about mock trail. I'm a geek to the extreme. O well i don't give a damn. I'm still doing it. Well let me start by saying that this is probably one of the funnest things I've ever done. I must thank Shelby and Steven for convincing me to do it. At first i thought is was kind of an interesting thing to do but a one year thing. And know I'm pissed that it's over.

First let me describe what it is. You get a case, this year it was about a kid accused of setting of fireworks in a forest and starting a fire that kills two people. Then you either have to prove him guilty or innocent. There's 6 witnesses, all played by students, and you do the whole trial thing. All of it. Yeah nerd central.

I guess the thing is that something as simple as this, something that friends had to rope me into doing, can become so important. 8 of us spent 5 months preparing our questions, learning accents, and practicing objections, and we never realized we were good. Until Friday. We lost, we got a 247, a score worthy of a state team, and we lost. And now i miss it. Alot.

I miss having something to do. I miss the case. The thinking. All the work i tought was useless. All the times spent yelling hitler(inside joke). Most of all i miss the people. I miss all the stupid jokes and all the time wasting jokes. Hah and it's only been done for 2 days. Pretty pathetic.

In a very odd roundabout way i guess i just wanted to say you never realize how important somethings are until you lose them. And that feeling sucks as i'm sure almost everyone knows. So i leave you with another challange. Don't wait to lose things. Go out get them and keep them.

Migraine

Well i sit here and write this blog with an annoying little headache. Nothing bad I really don't care but it makes me think of Dec. 8Th 2008. I went to school that day to become an acquittance of a massive migraine. Ended up in the hospital. Throwing up. It was a fun day.

But see then that makes makes me think of Christmas break when my entire family became infected with the flu throwing up all over the house. And then I think about my 7Th grade year when I got the flu and threw up then too. And then i think of of during that same year when i tore my MCL and missed and entire year of soccer. I wanted to die.

But now to my point. I had a headache, but yet I just remembered every bad thing that's happened to my body in the past 3 years. See I'm sure if you think about it you could give me a detailed list of every bad thing to happen to you in the last year. Bet it would take you about 5 minutes to finish too. But if I try to think about the good things that have happened the list is much shorter.

Garrison Keillor today said on a 'Prairie Home Companion' that Minnesota is full of complainers. He's right except it's the united states. We live in a sociaty full of complainers. Not all of us are and some of us deserve to be but honestly how bad can it get. Almost everyone can remember the bad things but we acutally have to sit down and think extreamly hard to remember the good things. We live in america for god sakes. At least when we get migraines we have hospitols to go too. At least it's the flu not malaria.

We live in the best place on earth yet it's our job to remember how "bad" we have it. What the Hell. Is america that self-centered? I don't want to know the answer to that question, i don't think i'll like it. Point is, can we just take a break for a day and enjoy the fact that our lives are so much grander then the rest of the worlds and not complain.

That's my challange for anyone reading this, Pick a day this week and spend that day not complaining. Not once.

Oh Shit (Again)

Well this is the second of what I'm beginning to see as an on going thing. I have this thing with forge ting. It's a family trait, my mom and all my brothers are the sames as me, we always forget. Sometimes we procrastinate, we do that too, but usually we just forget. But hell, here goes everything I've forgot.

I've forgot to blog, I had 8 blogs in November, 2 in December, and 2 in January, Ha there goes a grade.
I forgot correct some of my math assignments and we had a check today, well there goes another grade.
Forgot about my private violin lessons 2 weeks in a row, parents are pissed, great.
Forgot about doing the closing arguments for mock trial and competitions tomorrow, this is just getting better and better.
Oh, and I forgot to care about how what I do and say affects others.

Like I said Oh Shit.

Thing is I can fix all of these with a little effort, except the last. People remember everything bad that happens to them. I could tell you every bad thing that's happened to me since i was 10. It's not hard. And well I've forgotten about everyone else lately. I can try to fix others opinion of me but it's only a covering to the deeper crack I've created. You know who you are and I apologize, I apologize to those I forgot to care about, to those things a forgot and never did, and I promise to try,and to keep trying to fix the problem.

Well this is just me but what about you, what have you forgot lately. Who have you forgotten about. What are your "Oh Shit", moments? Are you going to fix them? Or are you going to just sit back and keep forgetting, I know I'm not but hey, that's me, the rest is up to you. All i can say is if we apologize and we try to fix are problems and our forgetfulness we can finally make a change.

So I ask "How will you remember, and will you prevent your own 'Oh Shit' moments?"
Shoveling the Shit,

Two-Faced behind a Curtain

Ah, hypocrisy one of the greatest things in the world don't you agree? The art of saying one thing and the doing the opposite. The ultimate lie. It's bad when someone does it blatantly, when they know there being a hypocrite. Thing is many of you have written about this same thing but i realize it's actually worse when they don't. When someone says one thing does the opposite and doesn't realize it's even worse.

See when you don't realize your being a hypocrite, you don't do anything to fix it, now your just an ass. I realize know that you really really have to focus and try if you want anything to be different. If you want people to believe what your saying and what you want them to think of you, you can't forget. If you do you look like your two-faced.

Maybe that's appropriate, forgetting is a horrible horrible thing to do when people are counting on you. It's a horrible thing if something important is going on and you forget. Maybe looking like a two-faced liar is alright if you forget. I'm the king of this. I forget things all the time, I never look ahead and remember what I have to do. It's a very bad habit, I advise you never do it.

Thing is while everyone else sees you as a two-faced liar, you don't. Why, because you don't realize it. Your not being arrogant or anything you just don't see it. Maybe were just all in are own little world too concerned about ourselves to notice, but I pray that's not true. In the end all we have to do to keep are promises is come out of the curtain of self-protection. If we stop being concerned about ourselves we can come out of that curtain and worry about remembering what we promised.

Some people are two-faced, some people aren't, but the reality is in the end we all have a curtain. Question is when we will we all come out and bother to think of what we say to others?

A Glass Ball

It's a small round, glass sphere. I took a picture of it yesterday. See how the light reflects off it in one picture and how it's different in the next? Wondrous isn't it? This one sphere can make so many different colors appear on the surface yet at the end it's still a clear glass ball.

People are like this glass ball. We can be so many colors. We can be sad for someone. We can be mad at someone. We can hate someone. We can love someone. Yet in the end we are who we are. It doesn't matter if at the end of the road of life I hate you, I love you, or I don't care, in the end I'm still Logan Tufte and all you know is what you've seen.

Honestly you don't know who I am. I'd really like to know who you think I am. I'd love you know what people think of me. I have this way about life. I call it "The Wall" I've managed to control myself enough that I can block any feeling from showing. It may sound stupid but oh well it's true.

I don't like to show things to people. I like control, I want to be able to shape the things around me but I can't anymore. I've finally been shown that it's time to let the wall down. It's high time I drop my glass ball and let the myself shine through. You know who you are, and you know what you've done and for that I am eternally in your debt.

So my question to all who read is this. When are you going to let your glass ball drop?

A Broken Link

Family. The closeness of it all. Definition of a family, a group of people related to one other by blood or marriage. But what about the other family, what about your friends? What about the family that know you away from the home. What about your related family that knows how you feel that knows your real soul? That's not in the definition.

My analogy of a family. It's and iron link chain. Each member is a different chain. Gray links that grip together to form a working unit capable of many many different things. And families will fight to keep that chain together. Have you ever thought, what would you do? What would you do if someone in your family did something illegal. Would you turn them in? If they stole something? If they committed some act that you wouldn't dare speak to anyone else? What would you do?

Don't just say I'd turn them in. I know myself if someone I loved as family or maybe even more did something that bad, I'd still defend them, I need that chain. I believe that everyone needs that chain. If we don't we spiral. If we lose that team, that gray link that grips us together we can't support ourselves. You see it everyday, you see it in the eyes of someone lost to a family, someone left behind by parents in friends. You see them failing at life because the support is gone. I know I can't let that happen to my family.

So here's a question to you. What happens when a link cracks. What happens when someone screws up, what would you do, can you do what's right by the laws of a country when it destroys what's right by the laws of a family? I honestly don't know. My question too you, do you?

Time for a New Year, With the Same People

O yes, it's 2009, it's the new year, time for a fresh start. The time where we all say something small we want to change. For some it's losing 20 pounds. For other's it's just to eat healthy. Others it's to take up and instrument. But alas it usually fails, we remember how much we like a good burger, or forget to go running everyday, or we don't have time to practice music. Ha, what an ironic holiday.

Well what can you say, change is hard, even with little things. It's not something that comes natural to people. Even the little things that we don't notice in our lives are hard to change. We call it a New Year, a time for change, well it is a year, just not the time for change.

The time for change is everyday, of every month, of every year. It's not when a new year starts, it's when you realize something needs to change, so you change it. It's not "Hey it's 2009, I'll lose some weight," it's "Hey I'm overweight and I don't want to be." People have to realize that change doesn't just happen you have to try, you have to make a conscience effort to make things better. It's a simple concept, that for some reason people just don't notice.

Well it's 2009, and I'm the same and your the same, but maybe just maybe, at the end of this year, I'll be a little different, and so will you.

The Death of Christmas

Dec.1st-Dec. 24-- Oh the good days. The days leading up to Christmas, school is out, Santa's back, every one's happy. Love those weeks and days.

Dec.25-- Finally Christmas arrives, this great day of happiness and celebration. Presents, family, friends, all the good stuff in life. The best day of the year to some of us.

Dec. 26-- Christmas is dead. The Presents have been given, the food eaten, the joy is over. Have you ever noticed how that works that after Christmas instantly everything just rolls over. Sure we have are after-Christmas Christmas parties but it is not the same. Instantly afterwards it is back to real life. Right away were going back to work, going back to the normal way of life, it is like Christmas wasn't even there.

The radio has stopped playing Christmas tunes. Santa's gone to be never seen again. It's over, instantly. Question- do we not like joy? are we not fans of good will? Does no one give a damn about the whole concept of Christmas? The damn commercialisation has killed it. All the suspense of gifts has made this generation and the next generation of human being forget the whole meaning of Christmas. God dammit I can't be the only one to see it.

So I'll stop before I get ahead of myself. All I'm saying is wouldn't it be great if we just took a few extra days and enjoyed the spirit of Christmas. It's not that hard.
